Celebration: The Guérewol

The Guérewol  is an annual courtship ritual competition among the Wodaabe Fula people of Niger. Young men dressed in elaborate ornamentation and made up in traditional face painting gather in lines to dance and sing, vying for the attentions of marriageable young women. The Guérewol occurs each year as the traditionally nomadic Wodaabe cattle herders gather at the southern edge of the Sahara before dispersing south on their dry season pastures.


National dish: Karkanji

This refreshing drink can be made entirely from plants grown in Chad.  With the heat as strong as it is here, karkanji satisfies thirst at little cost.  This is also used as a product of many a home-based business, and sold at the edge of a school, business or sporting event by the glassful.  Some say it is good for colds, runny noses and flu symptoms

Celebration: The Kumboka Ceremony

The Kumboka ceremony takes its name from 'Kuomboka', a Lozi word that literally means 'to move out of the water'. As the plains around Mongu flood, the Lozi king travels in a large barge, called the Nalikwanda, from his dry season palace in Lealui to his rainy season palace in Limulunga.
The Ceremony centred on the flooding of the Zambezi plains based on the movement of the Lozi king to higher ground great opportunity to experience Zambian culture and wildlife.

Celebration: Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival

The festival is officially held from 5 January to 5 February and it is the largest ice and snow festival in the world. Taking place in the winter months, this unique festival showcases beautiful ice sculpture artworks, ranging from small mythical creatures and beautifully lit ice lanterns to awe-inspiring 250-feet monuments in an amazing display of craftsmanship and light.

CELEBRATION 

Diwali is a National Holiday in Fiji,Celebrations revolve around the triumph of good over evil, purity over impurity,
 light over darkness..The indu Festival of Lights takes place on the darkest night (first night of the new moon) in the
 month of Kartik in the Hindu calendar.
In.the.streets and temples are decorated with spectacular light displays and colorful garlands.In their homes,
 people light small oil lamps called diyas. It is believed that deceased relatives come back to visit their families 
on Earth during this festival and the lights are a way to guide the spirits home. The sound of firecrackers exploding
 is common as the noise is said to drive away evil spirits.Families, friends and business associates exchange gifts
and sweets, settle old business deals and are encouraged to rid themselves of hate, anger and jealousy.

FOOD
Lakdi Mithai is a simple Indian sweet made with dough which is fried, coated in sugar
 syrup and left to crystallise. It has an incredibly crunchy texture, takes very little effort 
to make and is very delicious. In Fiji, this sweet is made during festivities such as Diwali 
and is also had as a quick and easy snack.


FACT
Fiji is located right on the International Date Line. In Taveuni,
 there is a spot where you can stand with one foot in the current date and your other foot in
 the previous date.

Nicaragua

Celebration: San Sebastian festivities
San Sebastian was an Spaniard that later converted to Christianity, then he was murdered. 
From 17 to 27 January is celebrated the Feast of Diramba in his honor. On January 19th a big mass is celebrated. There is a procession of San Sebastian's image, which is accompanied by traditional dances. Some of these represent Nicaragua's history.
The last Sunday of celebrations a horse parade is organized and people offer local food and drinks to visitors.

Typical Dish: Gallo Pinto
( Fried rice with onion and pepper, and kidney beans)

Curious fact: Nicaragua's national flower is called Sacuanjoche.

Celebration: Fiesta Patronal de San Salvador

In "El Salvador" people celebrate during an entire week in El Divino Salvador del Mundo's honor. The main events are organized in the capital city on August 5th, there is a huge procession with a Jesus Christ image. This is a colorful celebration, and it causes curiosity among citizens and tourists.
To finish the feasts they represent a passage from the Bible.
